What are the different sizes
Photos are brought and sold in several different sizes and licences:
Allows the photo to be used for personal uses such as posting to a personal Facebook account, printing the photo for display at home, and similar uses (The exact size is depending on the height and width of the original photo, and is displayed on the photo page).
- Small - Scaled to fit within a 960px x 960px box, but maybe smaller if the original image is too small. This size is great for Facebook profile photos or viewing on a smart phone.
- Large - Scaled to fit within a 2000px x 2000px box, but maybe smaller if the original image is too small. This size is great for viewing on a tablet (like the iPad) or having printed
This licence allows the photo to be used for publication as well as personal use. There are two different rights depending on whether or not the photo is being used for editorial or commercial uses. The photo is scaled to fit within a 3000px x 3000px box, but maybe saller if the original image is too small.
- Editorial - Editorial uses include reports on an event, or illustrating a new story about the community surrounding the event.
- Commercial - Commercial uses allow the photo to be used in a context that implies support for a commercial product or service. You must have written permission for everyone who is recognisable in the photo before you publish the photo.
